So this Con is fast approaching. Organised by UCD Game Soc, it is due to occur on the weekend of the 3rd to 5th of April 2009.

Located in the UCD students centre and back for its Fifteenth year.

Free Pizza at Leprecon!

A recent post on the Leprecon blog has revealed that there will be free pizza for guests thanks to Just-Eat.ie

This is absolutely awesome and should be encouraged! Sponsorship of this kind is exactly what games conventions in Ireland need. Hmm – they cover my area too… I think I’m going to have to start using Just-Eat.ie

Itzacon 2009 – News!

OK – so I’m a bit behind the leading edge of the news wave with this one but I think it’s well worth noting as it appears work has already begun (which is pretty spectacular for an Irish Con!)

Just under two weeks ago Sarky (Sarklor on LiveJournal) announced that he had been elected Con Director for Itzacon 2009! Great news… I meant to pop up a congratulations here but I figured – well it would take him a month or two to get the cogs meshing and the gears engaged so there was no rush…

Imagine my surprise when I discover (again via his blog) that not only has he had the website updated with a placeholder but the team has actually started work already!

Go team Itzacon! I for one am looking forward to another great con

A great moment!

The longer I’m involved in Irish Gaming the more suprised I am that I still get surprised by the fantastic things that happen. If I had my choice of subcultures to be involved in there is no way in the world I would choose any other (and I’m not just saying that because I’m a gamer!).

Yesterday at the Vaticon 14 Closing Ceremony (which was great fun overall) was one of those deadly moments that just rocks my world! The committee were thanking their two VIP guests who had bought tickets at the Gaelcon charity auction last year when they paused and pointed out that (as one of the VIPs is pregnant) there were in fact three VIPs and there was also a T-Shirt for the baby!

Hi folks,

If we were being really good and tech savvy about our website issues we would be blogging our progress on getting the site back up and running. For now I’m afraid we’re not making as much progress on getting www.gaelcon.com back up and running as we would like.

Just so everyone is clear – Gaelcon is going ahead on the bank holiday weekend this October as usual (I had to look up the dates so I won’t assume anyone else knows them off) 25th – 27th of October.
